Monica Vidal: In Between the Mud and Sand

This exhibtion is an intimate account of the artist’s process and experiences, including unseen studies, offshoot ideas, narratives in progress, exploits of her fictional “Flayed Monks” and scenes from invented archaeological sites. 

The most recent works are watercolor and gouache paintings based on Instagram photos from @monicavidalartist. They are explorations of images never intended as art...smartphone snapshots taken from rooftops, muddy trails, and vacations spots.
