Erin Hunt: Resonances
January 16 - February 6, 2016

Erin Hunt lives on a remote island off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada.  She holds degrees in both painting and architecture, but her interest in painting permeates her life.
A preoccupation with objects informs her work, and it is always at play. Whether simple, ornate, found, or constructed--objects are the subject of her work. Ultimately she is curious about the translation between the observed object/subject and the painted form, particularly as it relates to abstraction.
These paintings are curious indeed.
Everything from paper scraps to toasters are the subjects of her painterly investigations—her portraits of “things.”

Her move from Brooklyn to Fogo Island three years ago has reinforced her interest in painting discreet objects. The spare and stark surroundings bring everything into high relief, and the artist finds inspiration in the tiniest of forms.
